A sailor out of the ordinary

Embarked early around the world to feed his love of the Arts and his famous “Carnets de Voyage”, Titouan’s decisive encounter with Eric Tabarly is guiding his way to offshore racing at the highest level. Two years aboard Pen Duick VI, the biggest ocean races and an exceptional trajectory that lead him to the victory in the 1st Vendée Globe in 1990 on “Ecureuil d’Aquitaine II”. Following this feat, a victory in the “Route du Rhum” the same year and the title of Offshore Racing World Champion. It was in 1990 that Titouan became friend with Philippe Paturel, founder of the ROUTE, and the Crew of the “Saint-Pierre et Miquelon” during the Tour de France à la Voile.

The Bateau Atelier, messenger of the future

Titouan Lamazou, L'Atelier des Tropiques

Resuming to sea and meeting cultural diversity and bio-diversity to build a world of sharing for our children. Titouan imagines 20 years ago the great project L’Atelier des Tropiques. A mission around the world by the Overseas Territories and the oceanic shores aboard the Bateau Atelier, a virtuous, innovative and eco-compatible vessel, led by a crew of artists, writers, philosophers and scientific researchers for a vast educational program shared in real time, digitally and during stopovers, with teachers and their students. Implemented in 2015 between schools of France and Niger, this exceptional project will be presented on the occasion of an Event Exhibition at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris in November 2018.

A renowned host for the 9th edition of ROUTE Halifax Saint-Pierre in June 2018: Titouan Lamazou will be in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon for the arrival of the race. The ROUTE and all the population of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon prepare him a welcome to the height of the honor he makes to the Archipelago. Ambassador of the maritime heritage, L’île aux Marins is already in the program of his stay, the opportunity to highlight the inscription of this exceptional site to the Unesco Heritage. An illustrious visit which will also reserve some emotional moments for many around the memory of Eric Tabarly, very much in the spotlight in the Archipelago since his stopover in 1987 during the Transat Lorient / Saint-Pierre / Lorient.
